School Work Balance

My commitments as an employer

As a certified employer, I commit to:

  • Comply with the provisions of the Act respecting labour standards relating to work performed by children (in french only).
  • Allocate work schedules to my student-employees that promote their educational success, ideally between 10 to 15 hours/week, for a maximum of 20 hours. These standards apply to full-time students.
  • Provide an adapted work schedule, particularly during exam periods.
  • Encourage the continuation of my student-employees’ studies, as well as their pursuit of a diploma or a desired qualification.
  • Establish a process of welcoming, integrating and following up with my student-employees.

If you are not a certified employer and you meet the above criteria, while also valuing and promoting the educational success of your student employees, it is possible for you to join this social solidarity movement while also being recognized as a certified employer.

All that is left for you to do is to communicate with your MRC’S School-Work Balance agent, who will be happy to give you more information and complete your certification!
